An overweight load is corrected either by redistributing freight inside the trailer to fix an axle, or by transloading part of the freight to a second trailer to fix gross weight. WarehouseNow confirms a facility near the scale within 15 minutes and most corrections finish the same day.
What to do right now
Read the scale ticket carefully
Axle overweight and gross overweight are different problems. Axle issues are often fixed by shifting pallets or sliding tandems. Gross overweight means freight has to come off.
Do not drive to the receiver overweight
Fines, out-of-service orders and liability all land on the carrier. Get the correction done near the scale.
Call for a rework or a transload
Tell us the weights, pallet count and commodity. We confirm a facility with a forklift and, if needed, a second trailer or a storage spot for the excess.
Re-weigh and deliver
The facility redistributes or offloads, you re-weigh, and the excess freight is either delivered separately or held until the shipper decides.
How WarehouseNow helps
Overweight loads usually come from a shipper loading error or a heavy commodity stacked too far forward. Our partner facilities near major scales and ports handle both the axle rework and the transload, and we can store the overflow freight until a second truck is arranged.
