Freight disposal and salvage, including the loads nobody wants

When a receiver rejects product, a load is contaminated, or a shipper says "just get rid of it," we arrange compliant disposal or salvage with documentation for the claim.

Short answer

WarehouseNow arranges disposal, destruction and salvage of rejected, damaged, expired and contaminated freight at vetted facilities across the U.S., Mexico and Canada. We confirm a facility and a price within 15 minutes and provide a certificate of destruction or disposal for your claim file.

What freight disposal & salvage covers

Freight disposal is what happens when a load cannot be delivered, returned or sold. Common cases include temperature-abused food, water-damaged consumer goods, expired product, rejected pharmaceuticals and contaminated material. The freight still has to be unloaded, documented, and routed to a landfill, recycler, donation partner or destruction facility that will accept it, and the trailer has to be released so the driver can move on. Most warehouses decline this work. Our network includes facilities that take it.

How it works

Describe the freight

Commodity, quantity, why it was rejected, whether it is food, hazmat or regulated, and any shipper or insurer instructions.

We match a facility that will take it

Within 15 minutes we confirm a partner that can unload, hold and route the freight to the right end point, with pricing for each step.

Disposal, documentation, release

The facility unloads and processes the freight. You receive photos, weight tickets and a certificate of disposal or destruction. The driver is released the same day.

Typical turnaround

Facility confirmed in 15 minutes. Trailer unload and driver release usually the same day. Final disposal and certificates typically follow within 1 to 5 business days depending on the commodity and the end facility.

What drives the cost

  • Commodity and regulatory status, with food, hazmat and pharmaceutical freight requiring specific end facilities
  • Weight and volume, since landfill and recycling fees are tonnage-based
  • Labor to unload and separate packaging from product
  • Whether salvage or donation can offset part of the cost
  • Certificate and chain-of-custody requirements from the shipper or insurer

Every quote covers the full job, including materials, after-hours labor and any storage days, so the number you pass to your customer or your claim is the number you pay.

Where we do this

Freight Disposal & Salvage is available in all 50 states plus Mexico and Canada. Partner coverage is deepest in these freight hubs:

Problems this solves

Freight Disposal & Salvage: frequently asked questions

Will you take contaminated or rejected food?

Yes. We have placed temperature-abused and contaminated food loads that other providers declined. Tell us the commodity and the reason for rejection and we will match a facility that can process it.

Do I get a certificate of destruction?

Yes. You receive photos, weight tickets and a certificate of disposal or destruction suitable for insurance and shipper claims.

Can you salvage or donate instead of destroying?

Often, yes. Where product is safe and the shipper allows it, salvage or donation can reduce the disposal cost. We will tell you if that is an option.

How fast can the driver be released?

Usually the same day. Releasing the trailer is our first priority, and the facility handles processing afterwards.

Do you handle hazmat disposal?

Yes, through licensed partner facilities. Share the SDS or hazard class with your request.

Who pays for disposal?

That depends on the shipper, carrier and claim. We quote the cost up front and bill whichever party you direct, with documentation that supports the claim.

Is there a minimum quantity?

No. We handle a few pallets or a full trailer.
